Hurricane Helene & Milton

Hurricane Milton struck Florida on the evening of October 9, 2024. Just 2 weeks after Hurricane Helene hit the state, they face more clean up and rebuilding. These back-to-back hurricanes were devastating in several states. Our US Disaster Response team, churches, and volunteers have been on the ground since September. IDES is responding to Helene and Milton in Florida, Tennessee, and North Carolina with multiple churches. Primary relief efforts include clearing trees and damage, tarping roofs, and boarding up homes as well as cut-outs and muck-outs. We are now in phase two which will be repairing and restoring homes and building homes from the ground up. We anticipate that we will be working in the states of Appalachia for several months. Thailand

IDES has been very active in Thailand helping Myanmar refugees who have fled danger from war in their home country. Through food distributions, biblical color books, trainings, and more, IDES has provided help and hope in all three focus areas— Disaster response, Development, and Disciple Making. It is an ongoing partnership in Thailand as IDES strives to help those in need both physically and spiritually.

Greenfield, Iowa Tornado

On May 21, 2024, an EF-4 tornado struck the small community of Greenfield of just over 2,000 people. Devestating a whole community, IDES was able to partner with Early Chapel Christian Church in Earlham, IA to help bring relief to those in need. Over the course of about 3 months, we had 100’s of volunteers come help clean up as well as build sheds. We built a total of 60 sheds for homeowners in Greenfield, who some, had lost everything.
